Piero stood with the device now mounted on his shoulder. A viewfinder was pulled out and positioned over his left eye. “Fall back,” he commanded at the suited Souza. They both stepped back from the prince and Piero fired the weapon. Nothing happened, no projectile came out the weapon’s cannon. Piero dropped the device to the floor.

The prince had stopped spinning his weapon and started laughing at Piero. His weapon was stood up on one end on the ground, held up by his huge gauntleted fist. “Old toys for young boys,” he sang in rhyme. Piero had pulled his sword out, but just stood still, waiting for something. The prince’s sword seemed to flicker for a moment, he clearly noticed too as his head turned to examine it. It flickered again and then it appeared to shatter into thousands of tiny pieces, falling like a bucket of sand being poured onto the floor. The prince was left holding and staring at the weapon’s hilt in disbelief. “What the hell,” he managed to say as Piero broke out into a charge.
